“3 Ao” Snow Mountain is located in Heishui County in Sichuan province, combined by the main peak, Ao Taiji (a Tibetan word means the father of mountains) of 5286 m, Ao Taimei (a Tibetan word means the mother of mountains) of 5257 m and Ao Taina (a Tibetan word means the son of mountains) of 5200 m. The Deity Mountain, Baguduo (a Tibetan word) close to Ao Taiji, with the altitude of 5200 m, is titled as “god of protection”, for it guards Ao Taiji all year around. And it is Tibetans’ dream to go on a pilgrimage to Ao Taiji which is closest to the sky, by climbing to the summit of Mount Baguduo. After assembling to the summit, they usually carry out various pilgrimages to pray by piling up Mani stone and other rituals. Down the east ridge of Mount Baguduo there is Arigang alpine meadow (a pasture in Deshiwo). One side of the ridge is hundreds of thousands of acres of rhododendron forests and forests, and another side is alpine meadow, the lower, the larger, which expands into the mountains at far distance.

Due to the impact of the Indian Ocean warm air, the climate in the area of “3 Ao” Snow Mountain is humid and snowy. At the northern Rongxia Valley there are dense forests and abundant flora and fauna. However, due to the steep and complex climbing route to the summit and frequent ice and avalanches, so far no one has paid attention to this mountain.At this region, from November to March next year each year, there are more snowy days, so it is fairly tough to climb the mountain. From June to July, rains and lightning show frequently. The best season to climb is the period from September to October or from April to May.

Route:

Day 1: Chengdu—Rinanzu on “3 Ao” Snow Mountain” (accommodation at family hotel at the altitude of 2800 m)

Transportation: Climbers can charter a bus according to the number of them.   It takes 6 hours to arrive at the old factory in Deshiwo from Heishui County in Chengdu around 300 km. Climbers can arrive at Rinanzu on foot around 1 hour (to adapt the high altitude).

Day 2: Rinanzu—Lookout Point—Arigang (alpine pasture), altitude of 3800 m

Transportation: walking around 5 hours of 6-km mountainous road

Day 3: Camp Site—Baguduo (altitude of 4488 m) – Rinanzu

Transportation: Climbers walk to the summit and return Rinanzu around 12 km. 7 hours or so.

Day 4: Rinanzu—Heishui County—Chengdu

Transportation: Climbers charter a bus to Heishui County and then return Chengdu.
