Mount Yuzhu, also known as Cocoa Saijimen Peak, 6178 M above the sea level, is at eastern Kunlun Mountains. Located at the boundary between Golmud and Yushu in Qinghai province, Mount Yuzhu is 94.2 degrees of east longitude and 35.6 degrees of north latitude. Mount Yuzhu is covered by snow all year round, with many glaciers, huge mountain body and spectacular scenery. There are more than 20 mountains with the altitude of over 5400 M around the main peak. In the north side of Mount Yuzhu, there is the wide and level West Beach with the altitude of 4300 M, and glaciers are mainly hanging glaciers, extending to the end of 4600 M. Passing over the mouth of Kunlun Mountains and arriving at southern Mount Yuzhu, tourists can see the end of glaciers is around 5400 M. The ice landforms in southern Mount Yuzhu are various. For example, Ice Qin, with the height of 10 M developing at the end of glaciers, is the ideal high-altitude ice training field. The alpine meadow area southern Mount Yuzhu is the paradise of wild animals, and tourists can usually see goa, chiru, Equus kiang there. The landform of Mount Yuzhu is very proper for primary climbers. The route of South Slope is clean and clear, with low climbing requirements, but the altitude of the Base Camp is comparatively higher, 5040 M above the sea level. The route of North Slope is relatively complex, but tourists can climb to the mountain along three glaciers at north side. During the trip climbers will meet the landform of ice wall and ice crack. Mount Yuzhu is the best mountain to climb at first time for climbing lovers because they can gain high-mountain climbing experience if along South Slope and learn more ice skills and climbing technics if along North Slope. The area of Mount Yuzhu falls into scope of continental climate, precipitation of 200 mm in a year. At the area of high altitude of over 5000 M, due to high-altitude air convection, the rainfall is hundreds of millimeters than the rainfall at piedmont, annual average temperature of -5 degrees, lowest up to -30 degrees. Because of the special geological location, east Kunlun Mountains becomes the boundary mountain of south and north in western China. Due to the influence of northern climate and southern climate, the climate of Mount Yuzhu is very changeable. Generally speaking, the precipitation is low, and the wind speed is fast(usually strong wind at the level five or six, the fastest wind speed up to level ten and sometimes level twelve). During the period from May to September, the lowest temperature is -10 degrees at night, but the status of snow accumulation is stable. There appears short periodic phenomenon, like good weather in the morning, turning to cloudy weather at noon, sometimes with snowflakes, and back to good weather again in the evening. The route from South Slope of the mountain is mainly snow-capped slopes, BC (5040 M) and C1 (5600 M). This mountain is the ideal mountain for mountain climbing lovers who are at primary entry-level.

Day 7: C1—to climb to the summit—Mount Yuzhu BC—Golmud
Tips:
Climbing Mount Yuzhu basically has a high requirement for physical condition. There is no freezing in October, so it is comparatively easy for climbing. Climbers have to grab skills of maneuver for falling and sliding, and walking on icy ground. At the altitude of 5700 M, the wind is strong and heavy. Climbers must bring sunscreen and prevent themselves from being tanned.
