Mila Shan, which situated in Yalung Zangbo valley, is an important boundary mountain of the different topography, vegetation and climate in both the east and west sides of the valley. Mila Shan is not only the watershed of Lhasa river system in northwest and Niyang river system in southeast but also the natural dividing line of the oceanic climate in Nyingchi prefecture and the continental climate in Lhasa region, west of it is cold and dry while the east region is warm and humid with lush vegetation, and this endows the mountain a significance of geographical boundary.

Mila Mountain, or Mira Mountain (Chinese: 米拉山; pinyin: Mǐ lā shān), is a mountain in the Tibet Autonomous Region of China, roughly 150 kilometres (93 mi) by road northeast of Lhasa. The road pass that runs by its peak is one of the highest on China National Highway 318.
