The Kashgar was historically town on the “Silk Road” across the Eurasian continent. It is now the only historical and cultural city in the country. Kashi City is located on the alluvial plain formed by the Kashgar River water system. It is one of the oldest and richest oasis on the western edge of the Tarim Basin in Xinjiang. Kashgar has unique natural scenery. There are the Pamirs on the roof of the world, the crystal-clear all year round Muztag Berg which is the father of iceberg, a beautiful mountain lake – Lake Karakule, “the sea of death” – Taklamakan Desert.
As the main channel and hub of the ancient economic and cultural exchange between the East and the West, Kashi has been a multi-religious region since ancient times. At present, the most popular religions are Islam, Buddhism, Christianity, Catholicism, Orthodox and Taoism. The famous Etihad Mosque is located in Kashgar.
In the diet, Muslims fasted the meat of pigs, dogs, donkeys, quail meats, and beasts of prey and raptors. They did not eat the meat of dead animals that had not been slaughtered. They also fasted the blood of all animals.
Kashgar Dawak Festival In mid-June, “Dawak” is an ancient Uyghur traditional art of acrobatics. “Da” means “hanging” in Uighur. “Wak” means a person who likes to do something. The word “Dawak” is borrowed from the Persian “Dalbari”, which means to perform a large-scale performance at high altitudes. In ancient times, it was called “walking rope”, and “walking soft rope”.
The Corban Festival Islamic calendar December 10
One of the three major religious festivals in Islam, this day of worship is the grandest of the year. All Muslim adult men go to local mosques for worship. After that, the local residents will pray at the cemetery to mourn the loss of their loved ones.
Means classical music. Mukam is also known as “Makkam” and “Makkam”. Muqam is located in a wide area and has a wide range of types. It can be broadly divided into several categories such as Arabia, Persia, Turkey, India, and Central Asia. However, as far as species are concerned, in the world, the Mukam of Xinjiang has the largest variety and the most complete structural form. Twelfth Muqam is the Uighur people’s major contribution to the splendid culture of the Chinese nation. It uses music, literature, dance, drama and other languages and art forms to express the beautiful life and noble sentiments of the Uyghur people. Reflected their ideals and pursuits and the joys, sorrows, and griefs that were generated under the historical conditions of the time.
The Kite Runner 2007
Adapted from the novel of the same name by Khaled Hosseini, the old city of Kashgar is an important location for the film. The film story takes place in Afghanistan, but considering the situation at the time, field photography was not possible, because the old city of Kashgar has the same scene architecture with Afghanistan, and Kashgar become the location for the film.
The Uighurs in Kashgar mainly live in the old city and stroll around the old city. You will find that children aged three or four will say “Hello” to you. Local Han people will almost always speak simple Uyghur language. If you bargain on the market, the Uyghur number theory is more useful. The locals called Kashgar “hashi” instead of “kashi”.
The climate is relatively dry, with long summers and short winters. It is a temperate continental arid climate. There is a large temperature difference between day and night in Kashgar, so even in the hottest months, it is necessary to bring a thick sweater and the like. In May, June, September and October, sweaters, coats or windbreakers should be worn. If you are going to go before April and November, you must wear a thick coat or down jacket and other warm clothing.
Travel costs in Kashgar are high. Most tourists without self-driving cars need chartered vehicles to travel to scenic spots. Accommodation and catering are cheap. No need to spend a lot to find a clean and sanitary hotel. If you do not shop, Kashgar consumes about 200 yuan per day.
It is easy to find ATM in Kashgar city, and it is hard to find in countryside.
