Yangshuo is a small town (by Chinese standards) surrounded by karst mountains and beautiful scenery near Guilin. It has been a popular backpacker destination since the 1980s and the surrounding area has excellent rock climbing opportunities which attract another large group of tourists, As a result, it has seen much development and now gets many tour groups, mostly but by no means all Chinese. There is also a community of resident foreigners.
Yangshuo Town is the county seat for Yangshuo County; county population is about 300,000 with most of them in the town. This article concentrates on the town but also covers some expeditions into the countryside. There is a county website, but as of September 2016 it is in Chinese only.
Nation residents of all ethnic groups in Guangxi have no specific religious beliefs. In Zhuang, Yao, Yi, Miao and other ethnic minorities, you can also see rare signs of fetishism and witchcraft beliefs.
Most of local people can not speaking English.
Every year from May to mid-November is the best season for Yangshuo travelling.
Traveling in Yangshuo, the cost is mainly spent on accommodation and attractions. Yangshuo’s accommodation is a bit expensive compared to the surrounding county towns. After all, it is a tourist area. Generally, the standard room of a 3-star hotel is about 240 yuan, which can basically meet the needs of travelers. The price will rise in the tourist season.

There are no regular taxis in Yangshuo. The traffic to Gaotian (Big Banyan Tree and Moon Hill) are carried by silvery minivans. 3 yuan/person
There are a lot of tricycles in the West Street, and you can go to attractions such as Big Banyan and Moon Hill. 5-15 yuan / vehicle, sitting up to 3 people. There are often foreign tourist teams riding.
Between the pier and the parking lot, the fare is 10 yuan/person.
Wandering through the countryside on a bike and getting lost is one of the best things about Yangshuo. The villages often have dramatic mountain backdrops, and the people are generally friendly. Another popular trip is to take a boat ride with a bike, then bicycle back to town. Bike hire starts at around ¥15-20 per day, and tandems are a bit more.
West Street is the oldest street in Yangshuo with a history of more than 1,400 years. Situated at the center of Yangshuo County, the street has become, since the 1980’s, a window of eastern and western culture and the biggest ‘foreign language center’ in China. It is the most prosperous district in Yangshuo, and each year, approximately 100,000 foreigners come here on their travels or to attend advanced studies. Visitors are attracted to West Street by its unique mix of cultures.
Because, at times, foreigners outnumber Chinese, this street is also called ‘foreigners’ street’. Don’t be surprised if you hear English words spoken by senior Chinese women, for this street is called ‘the global village’. West of is modern and fashionable, nearly every store has bilingual shop signs, and more than 20 stores have opened opened by foreigners who have settled here.

The Chinese word ‘Yulong’ refers to ‘meeting a dragon’. Local legend has it that a dragon from the East Sea strolled across the Yulong River and, being deeply impressed by the attractive landscape, decided to stay there forever. The villagers living on The river bank saw the dragon several times, and hence the river is named so. The Yulong River Scenic Area has many tourist attractions interspersed with cultural and historical ones. The languid river is surrounded by a primitive, but pure, natural landscape, combined with Greens forest forests and rolling hills. Visitors to the area will delight in the picturesque scenes of simple rural life: bamboo waterwheels irrigating the paddy fields; village girls hand washing clothes outside of their cottages with smoke curling upward from the chimneys; old men fishing in The river; flocks of ducks swimming in the pond. Idyllic scenes such as these will will allow tourists to forget their problems and experience a sense of calm relaxation.

The charm of the Xingping Town is greatly enhanced by the surrounding hills. The town is located at the foot of Wuzhi (five fingers) Hill. The hills in the east are Sengni Hill that resemble a monk and a nun are bickering with each other, Chaoban Hill is said to look like the tablet held by officials in court in ancient times and Arhat Hill looks like a smiling arhat monk exposing his breast to the sun. The hills in the south are Carp Hill and Snail Hill. The hills in the west Are Bijia (pen holder) Hill and Meinv (belle) Peak. The hill in the north is Camel Hill resembling a camel crossing the river.

The area around Yangshuo is renowned throughout China, if not the whole world, for its karst plan where there are several upon hundreds of limestone hills dotting the countryside. The beautiful scenery here is a common subject of Chinese paintings and the inspiration for poetry. You may have watched plays in the theater and have been used to the stage, lights, and sound equipment in an enclosed space. Would you like to try an alternative way of enjoying a performance, in a natural environment? If so, please come to Yangshuo to witness a performance of ‘Impression Sanjie Liu’. We are sure that it will satisfy you greatly.
The performance was premiered on March 20th, 2004 at the Sanjie Liu Sing Fair, one mile from West Street (Xi Jie). This is the world largest natural theater which utilizes the waters of the Li River as its stage, with twelve mist shrouded hills and the heavens as its backdrop. Mist, rain, moonlight, the hills and their inverted reflections in the river all become the ever-changing natural background. Its auditorium is housed on the natural islands of the river with the audience standing on the designed terraces, surrounded by green plants. The sound equipment here cannot be seen because it is in harmony with the natural environment.

The rock climbing club provides services such as coaches, rock climbing equipment, and rock climbing information, and organizes guests to carry out outdoor rock climbing activities. There is no uniform requirement for club fees, but the minimum price is RMB 120/person.

Yangshuo attracts tourists with its delicious specialty foods, such as Beer Fish, Niang dishes and special snacks including rice noodles and various glutinous rice cakes. You can taste them in most streets of the county. The local specialties such as Shatian Shaddocks, kumquats and Chinese chestnuts are worth tasting as well.
There are hundreds of hotels, hotels, inns and family-style hotels in various grades in Yangshuo. During the holidays, there are more tourists and you need to book in advance for half a month.
If you want to buy some souvenirs, painted fans, embroidered balls, and painted shirts are all good choices. You can buy in tourist spots or pick up some when wandering along West Street.
