Fly & Ride Motorcycle Tour: Crossing Amdo tibetan area from Chengdu to Xining

Day 1 Arrival in Chengdu

Warm welcome by local guide (you can choose the language).
You will have a short health test to confirm that you are able to drive a car safely.
Applying Chinese riding license at traffic police station with your passport, original riding license and health examination table.

Day 2 Chengdu

The traffic police office will take one day to prepare your new temporary Chinese riding license, so you could have a leisure day in Chengdu. Hanging out and exploring the city by yourself. People’s park may be a good place to visit local people’s life, drinking Kung fu tea and playing Tai chi. Jinli is a nice place to catch night view of the city.
Or you can choose to visit panda base at the suburb of Chengdu city.

Day 3 Chengdu – Songpan ( 317km, 6hrs riding, altitude: 2800m)

Ride along the Min river to the resource of the river, Songpan county. It is also an important ancient city on tea and horse road.

Day 4 Songpan – Jiuzhaigou (or Mounigou ) (100km, 2hrs riding, altitude: 2000-3000m)

Jiuzhaigou is still closed due to the nature disaster, it is not sure when it will open to public again.
Mounigou (Mouni valley) could be one alternative choice for Jiuzhai valley.

Day 5 Jiuzhaigou – Huanglong – Songpan ( 150km, 4hrs riding, altitude: 2800m)

Huanglong national park is famous for the calcification pond, known as the fairy land in the world, has been listed in World Heritage Site.

Day 6 Songpan – Ruoergai (160km, 2.5 hrs riding, altitude: 3406m )

Plateau grassland view along the way. Yaks,Tibetan Nomad Tents and monasteries are the main things you can see in this huge grassland,no internet no starbucks.

Day 7 Ruoergai – Langmusi – Labrang ( 272km, 4.5 hrs riding, altitude: 3000m)

Today we will ride out of Sichuan province and arrive Gansu province.
The village of Langmusi is located in a remote stunning crossroads among Gansu, Sichuan and Qinghai. Here, Tibetans are the majority and they continue to live in compliance with their traditions. Temples and mosques are within walking distance from each other as cultural respect is very important here. The valley in which the Langmusi village situated is ideal for a leisurely walk in a virgin nature.

Day 8 Labrang

Exploring Labrang monastery today. It is a holy place where Buddhism followers learn the essence of Buddhism. In its heyday, there were over four thousand monks.
Don’t forget to join in the Noon Pray when you are in Labrang, one of the six great monasteries of the Gelug school of Tibetan Buddhism.

Day 9 Labrang – Tongren (106km, 2.5hrs riding)

Tongren is the center of Thangka art, In monasteries and villages along the Longwu River basin in Qinghai Province, Buddhist monks and folk artists of the Tibetan and Tu ethnic groups carry on the art of painting ”thangka” and murals, crafting patchwork ”barbola” and sculpting, known collectively as the Regong arts.

Day 10 Tongren – Xining (177km, 4.4 hrs riding)

Driving through the first national geo-park in Qinghai, Kanbula National Forest Park is a scenic area with Danxia Landform as the main sight. It is adjacent to the Yellow River in the north and close to the magnificent Lijiaxia Hydropower Station. The red mountains in Kanbula and the green lake in Lijiaxia Reservoir set off perfectly with each other, forming a beautiful natural painting.
