Benxi City is named after Benxi Lake and is located in the southeast of Liaoning Province, only about 70 minutes drive from Shenyang, the provincial capital. It is surrounded by mountains and rivers, the forest is vast, and the scenery is beautiful. It is famous for the title of “Maple Leaf City” and “National Forest City”. There is no direct route to Benxi, but Benxi Scenic Area is only 40 kilometers away from Shenyang Taoxian Airport. Shenyang Taoxian Airport is easily accessible and can easily shuttle go and from the city via airport buses, trams and taxis.

Benxi City has convenient transportation and reasonable prices.

Taxis

Benxi’s taxis are reasonably priced, starting at 6 yuan/2.2 km during the day, followed by 1 yuan per 500 meters. From 21:00 to 5:00 the next day, the starting price will be charged 1 yuan more. Every time the run more than 30 kilometers, an additional 30% of the freeway fee will be charged.

Benxi Water Caves

It was made a national park on January 10, 1994, and is open to the public all year round. It was designated an “AAAAA”-class tourist attraction by CNTA in 2015. It is known as the longest underground karst cave with water in the world. Comprising a dry cave and a water cave, it’s famous for a magnificent karst landscape.
In addition to the water caves, the national park also offers tourist attractions such as trekking to the top of the mountain, Woodstone Kingdom, dinghy rafting on the Taizi River, and the geological museum which hosts many relics and rare specimens collected from the national park area.

Arrival method: Take a train from Benxi Station to the Xitian Line, get off at the small city and transfer to the Benxi Water Cave. Take a bus from Benxi bus Center Station to Xiaoshi City and get off at Benxi water cave Scenic Area halfway. It takes about 30 minutes and the fare is about 11 yuan. Or, there is a tour bus to water cave at the Benxi train station.

Guanmenshan National Forest Park

It is an valley of outstanding natural beauty. Secluded trails run up and down the valley. The area is particularly popular in autumn when the leaves of the many maple trees that line the valley turn bright red.

Arrival method: There is a bus to Benxi small city at Benxi Long-distance Bus Station and train station, and a direct bus to Guanmenshan at Xiaoshi Bus Terminal.

Tanggou National Forest Park

The park is mainly composed of three major scenic spots: Greenstone Valley, Monk Hats, and Tanggou Hot Springs. Greenstone Valley is famous for its numerous waterfalls and green moss on the rocks. There are several ancient pines on the five female peaks in the valley. It is recommended to have time to go and see. The monk hat is named after the mountain’s sahpe resembling a monk’s hat. At an altitude of 1,234 meters, it is one of several high mountains in eastern Liaoning. . You can enjoy the forest bath, enter the natural oxygen bar, and breathe fresh air here.

Wunü Mountain National Park

It is an area of natural beauty. The park also contains the remains of an ancient Goguryeo capital city. As such the site has been recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Arrivale method: From Shenyang to Huanren in 3 hours and 30 minutes by car, there is a direct bus from Shenyang to Huanren, and there is a bus to Wunü Mountain in Huanren County.

Dashihu Scenic Area

Da Shi Hu Scenic Area is an ideal holiday resort with pleasant scenery. According to geographical conditions, it is divided into two scenic spots: Da Shi Hu and Lao Bian Valley. Among them, Da Shi Hu Scenic Area contains three tourist areas: Wulong Lake, Ice Gorge, and Mulan Valley.
