Chengde, lying in the northeast of Hebei Province, is close to Beijing, about 230 kilometers (140 miles) away, Tianjin, Tangshan and Qinhuangdao. The topography of this city is mainly divided into plateau and mountainous regions, including Yanshan, Yinshan and Qilaotushan. Mountains, as well as the Luanhe, Liaohe, Chaobaihe and Jiyunhe rivers flowing through the city.

The buses in Chengde City are very convenient, and all attractions can be reached by bus. Chengde also has a bus for the tourist line.
Taxis
In Chengde, taxis rarely play at the table, and they always offer a price in advance. The price between the scenic spots is mostly 5 yuan and the farthest is only 15 yuan.
If you go to Saihanba grassland, it is best to choose a chartered vehicle. This will be more convenient. The price of chartered vehicles is 300 to 400 yuan per day.

Chengde Mountain Resort
It is a large complex of imperial palaces and gardens situated in the city of Chengde in Hebei, China. Because of its vast and rich collection of Chinese landscapes and architecture, the Mountain Resort in many ways is a culmination of all the variety of gardens, pagodas, temples and palaces from various regions of China. It is a vast complex of palaces and administrative and ceremonial buildings. Temples of various architectural styles and imperial gardens blend harmoniously into a landscape of lakes, pastureland and forests.

Putuozongcheng Temple
It is once you see the temple, and walk the remaining half mile. Admission includes entrance to neighboring temple (Temple of Sumeru, Happiness, and Longevity). This is the largest temple in Chengde and is a mini-replica of Lhasa’s Potala Palace.

Rehe Chenghuang Temple
The completion of Rehe City Temple symbolizes the establishment and development of Chengde as a new city in the Qing Dynasty. It is the evidence of the city’s origin in Chengde City. The local civil and military officials held an annual ceremony to celebrate the worship of the city on the Qingming Day and the first day of the lunar calendar in July 15th and October 1st.

Hammer (Club) Rock
This unusual rock formation is a hike (or 50 rmb ski lift ride) up from Pule Temple. Admission includes entrance to Pule Temple as well as a visit to nearby Toad Rock.

Chengde Kuixing Building
Kuixing Building in Chengde is the largest Taoist Building for Kuixing. It is also the only place for Taoist activities in Chengde, where large-scale Taoist and temple fairs are regularly held.

Chengde Ice City
Chengde Ice City has more than 60 ice sculptures of various types. These works come from the ice sculpture artists of Harbin and Beijing. Chengde Ice City reflects the theme of “Summer Resort” in Chengde.
It is all year round. It is especially exciting to experience an ice-cold scorching under hot summer. There are also many recreational activities in Ice City, such as Great Wall slides, single speed skating, ice climbing, forest express trains, tug of war on ice, kangaroo slides, and traditional pumping tops and skating.

Dragon and Phoenix Cave
There are giant caves embedded in the mountain peaks, and folklore is the home of Dragon and Phoenix, hence the name “Dragon and Phoenix Cave”. The main hole of Linglong Peak – Dragon and Phoenix Cave is the largest dry hole in North China, 20 meters high, 15 meters wide and more than 50 meters deep. Here is Chengde’s largest Buddhist place.

Grassland Tour
Bashang Grassland
Generally, the Bashang Grasslands include four parts: Fengning Bashang, Zhangbei Bashang, Weichang Bashang and Guyuan Bashang. The four parts are located in four different counties of Hebei Province. Horse riding, camping, watching local wrestling competitions, or staying in farmers’ Mongolian yurts to eat roast whole sheep and other plain foods, are the main attractions for visitors. Vast lakes, and sunrises and sunsets over the grasslands provide great views for city dwellers who’ve grown tired of the urban sprawl.

Mulan Weichang
which locates at 450 kilometers northeast to Beijing, is the most beautiful. There are 1658 square kilometers covered with forest or grassland. The altitude here is 1500-2000 meters.

Longhua Maojing Dam
Maojing Dam is very suitable for the whole family holiday. The forest coverage here is 87%. It has a vast and magnificent meadow. If you want to breathe fresh air, it is a good choice to go to Maojing Dam.

Chengde Qinglong Tan
Qinglongtan is one of the 72 scenic spots in Yanqingguangou, 85 kilometers away from the Beijing area. There are Qinglongtan, Qinglongdian, Zhulian Waterfall, Water Rafting, Butterfly Valley, Gutiantongtian Cave, Wolong Shenshu, Jingxin Lake, and Horn Horn. Caves, Shoutan turtles, camel peaks, Longtou Mountain, Cone Valley, outside the cave fairy, Baoding Mountain, Yuan gems, longevity, ancient Great Wall and more than 20 natural attractions.

Xinglong Jinniu Cave
Jinniu Cave is a natural cave, divided into upper, middle, and lower levels. According to expert research, the cave was formed in the 1.4 billion years ago. It is the nearest karst cave discovered in the world from the top of the mountain.

Jinshanling Great Wall
Jinshanling Great Wall has been restored for easier climb. Visitors can hike all the way from Jinshanling to Simatai west. The Great Wall at Jinshanling has complete defensive system including barrier walls, battlement walls, watchtowers, gun emplacements, shooting holes, horse blocking walls, and branch cities. Located about 80 miles (130 kilometers) northeast of Beijing downtown, visitors can take a bus nearby Wangjing West Subway Station to get there.

Food
Donkey-Rolling Roll is a long roll with stuffing wrapped in yellow rice. The Roll is served on a bed of yellow beans. The act of turning the roll on the yellow beans is just like a donkey rolling on the ground. That is how the snack got its name. It could be found in Chengde more than 200 years ago. Generally, less than ¥100 for a large plate (in Chengde restaurants, there are always large and small plates; the large plate is about ten inches wide and the small one seven inches wide).
You noodle is a kind of coarse food grain. It is slightly dark colored. The local You noodle wozi dough is first rolled out to a thin skin, and then formed to its final shape. After that, it is put into a pot and braised. You dip it in the sauce when eating. It feels smooth and jelly-like in your mouth. You noodle jiaozi is a kind of ravioli stuffed with pickled vegetables.
Pubang deer meat clusters and the cooked deer meat clusters are quite tasty, and cost only ¥4-5 for each cluster. They are well worth trying. In the street south of the Summer Resort, there are many shops featuring local specialities which cater to tourists.
In the evening, you will find mini-booths selling tangy scented baked corn along Chengde Street.
