Mt. Emei stands at 3099 meters (10,167 feet), and is associated with Puxian Bodhisattva (Samantabhadra) – a representation of ‘Great Practice’ and ‘Great Virtue’. Ever since Buddhism arrived in China, it has been an important center of refuge, and the mountain contains more than one hundred temples and monasteries. The mountain is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Culture
Mount Emei is a “three major schools of Chinese Kungfu” together with Shaolin and Wudang. Mount Emei is the birthplace of Chinese Kungfu, because its history is 1,000 years earlier than Shaolin Kungfu and 1600 years earlier than Wudang Kungfu. It is the earliest school of Kungfu in the history of our country.

Mt. Emei
It is like a huge green screen standing in the southwest of the Chengdu Plain. Looking its winding and beautiful figure, you will find that it resembles very much an eyebrow of a girl. It is the highest one among all the famous sight-seeing mountains in China.
On the mountain there are four scenic regions: Baoguo Temple, Wannian Temple, Qingyin Pavilion and Golden Summit. Its main peak, the Golden Summit, is 3079.3 meters (10,103 feet) above the sea level, seemingly reaching the sky. Standing on the top of it, you can enjoy the snowy mountains in the west and the vast plain in the east. In addition in Golden Summit there are four spectacles: clouds sea, sunrise, Buddha rays and saint lamps. In 1996 Mt. Emei was enlisted in the world natural and cultural heritage by the UNESCO. Mt. Emei is a wondrous world. The trees are verdant almost all the year round; the waterfalls are splendid; the whole scenery is beautiful and quiet. The landscape varies according to the seasons, the height and the climate. The poet Tan Zhongyue living in the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) once concluded the beautiful landscape in Emei Mountain into ten scenic sights. Today more and more new scenery has been discovered and given beautiful names such as Listen to the Spring beside the Tiger Brook, Plank Road above Longjiang River and Flying Waterfall Hanging over Dragon Gate. Go there and use your imagination, maybe you will discover a new sight by yourself.

Baoguo Temple
Baoguo Temple Contains a massive bronze bell, said to be heard from 10 miles away when rung. There was a giant porcelain Buddha in Baoguosi built in the 13th year of Ming Yongle (1415), up to 2.4 meters.

Wan-nian Monastery
A large monastery with a fantastic statue of Puxian Bodhisattva, who is represented as riding a white elephant with six tusks. The monks there are great, and they add a good deal to the ambience of the mountain. A part of the temple is a modern Re-construction.

Qingyin Pavilion
Qingyin Pavilion looms in Niuxin Mountain, with Heilong River in its left and Bailong River in its right. At confluence canyon there is one black stones, shaped like a cattle heart, therefore the stone is called the Niuxin Stone (cattle heart stone). Under The pavilion there are two Flybridges, and Shuangfei Pavilion stand between the two bridge, two clear streams rush through the bridge.

Eco Monkey Area
About half an hour after arriving at Qingyin Pavilion, you will see lots of monkeys. Mount Emei is currently the largest natural wild monkey area in China, with about 400 monkeys.
The robbery monkeys are often seen on the plank roads and bridges, while the monkeys in the pavilions are more tame. It is said that the monkeys also have their working time. At 9 am, when the management arrives, the Monkey King brings everyone together; at 5 pm, the monkeys “go home”.

Hongchunping
It will be impressed by this quiet environment immediately after coming to Hongchunping. Located in the middle part of Emei Mountain, Hongchunping is surrounded by peaks. When summer comes, it is always cloudy and rainy. This is the famous summer resort in Emeishan.

The Golden Summit
It is the highlight of Mount Emei, an important attraction integrating the temples and scenic sites together. In 1983, it was classified as one of the national Han Chinese Buddhist temples. As a wondrous sight-seeing platform and the biggest pilgrimage centre of Chinese Buddhists , it has been crowned as a scenic masterpiece in the Chinese World.
It was constructed during the Eastern Han Dynasty and has been rebuilt several times after being struck by lightning. Golden Summit is in a height of 3,078 meters above the sea level. When standing here, tourists will find that clouds are lower than the peak which ensures To savor the exotic exciting scenes such as magnificent sunrise, clouds sea, mysterious Buddha rays, as well as the holy Saint Lamps.
