Destination sketch

The city is located in the southwest of Hubei province. The population of the Enshi area is around 4 million, with about one million within the city itself and the remainder in the outside areas. It is an excellent tourist city in China, the national garden city, one of the nine major historical and cultural cities in Hubei province, and also City of Selenium. It lives in China’s famous ethnic minorities such as Tujia、Miao and Dong.

Best Travel season

It is best to avoid traveling to Hubei Province in July and August for the sultry weather, and for Enshi, April and May are the best periods to visit.

Tangya Tusi Ancient City

It is a largest and best-preserved Tusi site in the ethnic minority regions of southwest China. It is a witness of the Tusi system, a hereditary political system put forward by feudal emperors in ancient China.

Arrival method: The simplest way of transportation from Enshi to Tusi City is to take a taxi. It takes only 5 yuan to taxi from the city center and bus station to the Toast City.

Enshi Longlin Palace Scenic Area

The Wuling Mountains where Enshi is located are typical limestone landforms. The karst caves currently being developed are not many, but they are all exquisite, and the famous spots are Longlin Palace Scenic Area and Tenglong Cave. Enshi cave landscape, formed in the Cambrian period of 550 million years ago. It is composed of water caves, dry caves and maze caves. It has a total length of more than 2,300 meters. Among them, the water cave “Little Three Gorges” is more than 500 meters long, and the cave is 20-50 meters high. It is entered by Tujia’s “Lei Kok boat”, deep in the dark river, and the river is cold.

Arrival method: The Enli highway crosses the Dragonscale Palace. The vehicles from Enshi to Icheon pass through Dragonscale Palace and can also be directly taxied to the city.

Enshi Grand Canyon

It is famous for Yunlong Ground Fissure, the cliffs on two sides of which are formed in two different periods, and Seven Star Village, where visitors can recognize stones of various shapes. The local residents are are Mainly Tu people, so you can also learn some interesting customs and culture of this ethnic group here.

Arrival method: Enshi Grand Canyon has convenient transportation. There are many urban and rural bus lines from Enshi Bus Terminal to Mufu. The fare is 15 yuan.

Tenglong Cave

It is a cave group 6 kilometers (3.7 miles) from downtown Lichuan. It consisted of a dry cave and a water cave. The Qingjiang River becomes an undercurrent while running though the cave. The dry and water caves are only separated by a wall. According to the on-site investigation by experts from home and abroad, Tenglong Cave is praised to be the largest karst cave in China.
Address: Tenglong Cave is located in the northeast of Lichuan City, 6 kilometers from downtown.
Arrival method: There are vehicles to Tenglong Cave at the East Gate and West Gate of Lichuan City. The special fare is RMB 5/person. Many people share RMB 2/person. Currently, the Enshi Grand Canyon (Mufu Grand Canyon) has been established. The highway on Tenglong Cave can be accessed from Enshi to the Grand Canyon and then to Tenglong Cave; also from Yichang and Enshi by train to Icheon, then transfer to Tenglong Cave

Yumu Village

Situated to the west of Lichuan City, the village is still inhabited by five hundred Tujia people. The gate building of the stockaded villages is constructed on a cliff. There are ten tombs of the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) and several other ancient buildings.
Address: About 60 kilometers to the west of Lichuan District, the junction of Chongqing and Hubei Province
HArrival method: From Lichuan bus station, about 3 hours drive. Or take a shuttle bus from Lichuan City to the town of Moudao. There are 3 cars from the Avenue of the Road to Yumu Village. The departure time is 10:30, 13:30, 15:30. You can choose 318 National Road and Liwan Road, and then charter to Yumu village.

Shennong Stream

On the border between Wu Gorge and Xiling Gorge is the Shennong Stream. It is 60km long, taking its rise from the main peak of Shennongjia (known as the first peak of central China) and flowing through Badong county, the stream along flows into the Yangtze River via the Wu Gorge. Cruising along the stream by boat, visitors will become immersed in the wonders of zigzagging watercourses, the primitive environment, the canzonet by the boat tracker, and the mysterious culture along the banks.

Shuobuya Stone Forest

National 3A level scenic spot. Located in the territory of the Sun River Township of Enshi City, it is a landscape scenery area with stone forest. The average elevation of more than 900 meters, a total area of 21 square kilometers. Formed by the geological karst phenomenon, it is a typical karst appearance. The entire stone forest looks like a huge gourd.
