Bus
All traffic in Lijiang is based on public transport and long-distance bus, and bus No. 1 runs around the city center, through civil aviation stations and ancient cities. Bus No. 2 runs around the ancient city and include all the sights outside the ancient city. The ancient city of Lijiang prohibits the passage of motor vehicles. taxis and buses only run in the new town.
Taxis
Lijiang’s taxi starts at 7 yuan. The new city is not big. If you stroll around the city, the starting price will be enough. After 11pm, the starting price was adjusted to 11 yuan.
Bicycle
For the nearest places, such as Baisha Town, Lashihai Lake and Yushui Village, when the weather is fine, we recommend that you rent a bicycle, which is environmentally friendly and convenient. There are bicycles for rent at the Red Sun Plaza in New Town, with a mountain bike of RMB 20 and a regular car of RMB 15. Some hotels in the ancient city also rents bikes, and the prices are similar.
Chartered bus
Chartering is also a good choice. The chartered car is generally 350 to 450 yuan per day, ordinary van 250 to 350 yuan per day. You can find your innkeeper in Lijiang. They usually have several drivers’ phones. The charter price between peak season and off season have a big deference.

Lijiang ancient town (Dayan ancient town)
The town has a history going back more than 1,000 years and was once a confluence for trade along the “Old Tea Horse Caravan Trail”. The Dayan Old town is famous for its orderly system of waterways and bridges, a system fast becoming but a memory as the underground water table drops, probably due to over-building in the suburban areas.

Square Street

Black Dragon Pool
Black Dragon Pool was built in the second year of the Qing Emperor Qianlong (1737). It is commonly known as the Dragon King Temple. It was once a landmark of Lijiang and is home to Dongba Cultural Institute. Here, the crystal-clear lake reflects the posture of the Yulong Snow Mountain. This picture was once familiar to many people as a symbol of Lijiang.

Shuhe old town
Shuhe is known to local people as Longquan Village which is said to be the birthplace of the eminent Mu Family of Naxi minority ethnic group. Renowned as “Village of Leather”, the Old Town of Shuhe has a prosperous market in the central square covering an area of 250 square meters which used to be fur and leather trading center in Lijiang and has many excellent artisans that good at fur and leather processing. Ancient shops stand around the square with dark red painted wood doors opened and old people sitting and chatting that shows leisurely characteristic of the old town.

Lijiang Songcheng Tourist Area

Baisha village
Baisha Ancient Town is one of the oldest zones in the city of Lijiang. It got its name of “baisha,” meaning “white sand,” from the typical natural white sand in the area. Baisha Mural is located at Baisha Villages, 10km north of Lijiang. Although the traditional houses do not look impressive, this was the cradle of the Naxi culture and ancient capital of the Naxi Kingdom.

Lashihai
Lashihai means the ocean above the dam in Naxi Language. Here is a wetland landscape classified as a nature reserve. There is a small plateau lake that is a habitat for migratory birds. There is also a beautiful environment of the grassland.

Xuesong village
Xue song Village is the nearest village to Jade Dragon Snow Mountain and is located at the foot of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain. Since Joseph Locke lived here, many backpackers who knew him would come. In the backpacker’s mind, Locke is an idol-level master who has experienced a wealth life of backpackers. Locke left Lijiang in 1949. At present, the old people in Xuesong Village, who are over 70 years old, have met Locke himself.

Locke old residence exhibition Hall
In 1922, American Austrian Joseph Locke came to Lijiang. He lived and worked in Lijiang for 27 years. He lived most of the time in a small village under the Jade Dragon mountains. Locke is a contributor to the National Geographic magazine and a photographer and explorer. He collected a large number of plant specimens and photographed more than a thousand photographs reflecting the local customs of Lijiang.

The first bend of Yangtze River
The Yangtze River flows southwards from the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau to the Shigu Town, where it is blocked by the cliffs of Hailuo mountain. It turns over 180 degrees here, turns its head to the northeast, and forms a V-shaped large bend. In northwestern Yunnan, there is a wonder of the “Three Rivers Flowing Together.” Sanjiang refers to the Jinsha River (the upper reaches of the Yangtze River from the mouth of the Batang River in Yushu County, Qinghai Province to the mouth of the Yijiang River in Yibin County, Sichuan Province), the Minjiang River, and the Nu River.

Baoshan Stone City
In the town of Baoshan, 110km north of the ancient city of Lijiang, there is a huge rock shaped like a mushroom. The stone is extremely steep on both sides, as if it were cut off by a knife. Only the north and south sides have a gentle slope. More than one hundred Mosuo people built houses on top of rocks. This is Baoshan Stone City.

Laojun Mountain Scenic Area
Compared to the bustling and lively scene of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, Laojun Mountain seemed a little deserted. But here is a place to recommend to travelers who are adventurous and love hiking. Although the scenery here is beautiful, the traffic is inconvenient and it requires a good physical fitness for the travelers.

Jade Dragon snow mountain
The view of the massif from the gardens at the Black Dragon Pool (Black Dragon Tan) in Lijiang is noted as one of China’s finest views, and part of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain National Scenic Area and National Geological Park, an AAAAA-classified scenic area. The Park operates a tourist cable car that elevates to 4680 m for close views of the snow peak, which is criticized for accelerating the melting of the snow and reducing the water retention by the mountain.

Lugu lake
It is located in a high plateau amidst the Xiaoliangshan hills of Western Yunnan. The Lion Mountain that surrounds the lake, which is worshipped as the goddess Gammo, is the chief deity of the Mosuo people who inhabit the area. Lugu Lake is called the “mother lake” by the Mosuo people. The lake is also well known in Chinese travel pamphlets as the region of “Amazons,” “The Kingdom of Women” and “Home of the Matriarchal Tribe”, this last name highlighting the dominant role of the Mosuo women in their society.

Zhamei temple
The Mosuo people believed in the Daba religion in past. Later, Tibetan Buddhism gradually influenced this area and formed a phenomenon in which the two religions coexist. The largest Tibetan Buddhist monastery in Mosuo is the Zhamei Temple in Yongning.

The first bend of the Jinsha River in Benzilan Town
There is a viewing platform next to the Yunan – Tibet road, which is the best place to appreciate and photograph the Big Bend of the Jinsha River. Looking from afar, the Jinsha River, like a jade belt, turned a big bend around a regular conical mountain, and it was vividly called “Omega Bend.”

Lugu Lake – Yarden hiking
This is a fairly classic and well-known route. The line from Lugu Lake to Arden is difficult to walk on either the east or the west line, and it is 4,000 meters above sea level from Lugu lake’s 2000 meters sea level to Daocheng. All roads are plateaus, and the physical energy consumption is higher at high altitudes. Therefore, if you choose this route, you must be prepared carefully. Guide are necessary to avoid getting lost.

Rock Climbing
Anqini Ferrata rock climbing
Laojunshan Anqini Ferrata Railway climbing primary line is currently the third domestic line of Ferrata, a total length of 280 meters, a vertical height of 78 meters, costs 180 yuan. The new challenge line is 700 meters, vertical height of 180 meters, suitable for professional climbers, cost 300 yuan. The prices include round-trip transportation costs. Travelers who participate in rock climbing will also need to pay another 10 yuan for insurance.

Laojun Mountain Trekking
The most classic route is to start from jiushijiu long tan , through the Crocodile Dragon Haizi – Azuluo – Wolonggou – Xiaoqiaotou, along the way can take a road car, to the end of Lichao village, the entire process of about 1.5 days.
The best trekking season is April and May and September and October. The tourist center of the scenic spot can provide tent and sleeping bag leasing service, which is about RMB 50/set/day. For security reasons, you can choose the guide for the whole journey. The cost is about RMB 300/day.

Lijiang ancient city
Traveling in Lijiang area, accommodation can be divided into two situations. First, travel to tourism developed areas, such as Lijiang Ancient City, Tiger Leaping Gorge, and Baoshan Stone City. Accommodation conditions are basically guaranteed. The other situation is to untapped areas. Accommodation is relatively simple and bathing is often difficult.
Lugu Lake
Both Daluoshui Village and Lige Village can stay. DaLuoshui Village was developed earlier and has convenient transportation, many hotels have complete facilities. However, there are more visitors and more commercial atmosphere. Tourists in Lige Village are less and quieter, that is, traffic is inconvenient. Cheap beds and deluxe standard rooms can be found here.
