Situated in the northwest of Fujian Province, Sanming City neighbors Fuzhou in the east, Quanzhou in the south and is bounded on the west by Jiangxi Province.

Jiangle County was the first county in Sanming established in the Three Kingdoms Period (220-280). For thousands of years, Jiangle County has remained until now, and more counties were established in this area. The name of the city ‘Sanming’ came from the combination of the two counties, Sanyuan and Mingxi, which constitute the city proper.

Bus

Sanming has a well-developed public transportation system that basically covers the urban area. There are no buses in Taining County. There are only special tourist routes next to the Taining Hotel. Go to Jinhu, Shangqing river and other attractions to get to the bus station. 5 yuan to Jinhu Ferry, a group of Chinese and Pakistani buses every 15 minutes. 15 yuan to Shangqing Stream, about 30 minutes trip. The buses to Zhukou (15km) and Longhu (30km) are also 15 minutes away.

Taxis

Attractions

Yuhua Cave

Nine-Dragon Pond

Nine-Dragon Pond was named for its nine in flowing dragon-like winding springs. Zhuangyuan Rock

Dajin Lake

Also called Big Golden Lake, is a national key tourist attraction that combines Danxia Landform (red rock beds) with lake scenery. Due to the construction of a power plant in the upper reaches of Golden Stream, a man-made lake in the shape of a crescent is formed and named “Big Golden Lake”.
Dajin Lake scenic spot is famous for its vast lake, tall peaks in various formations and good ecological balance. Covering an area of 53 square miles, the scenic area is comprised of Dajin Lake, Shangqing River and Emei Peak. Dajin Lake is like a beautiful Painting with its surrounding red cliffs, fishing boats and farmhouses. Zhaixia Canyon

Taoyuan Cave Scenic Area

There are over 20 scenic spots including the Statue of “A Gleam of Sky”, Taoyuan Cave , Ancient Well, Ancient Village Gate, Immortal’s Chessboard and Wangxiang Platform. There are six so called “A Gleam of Sky” sites in the Taoyuan Cave Scenic Area. Each one is actually a crack between two cliffs formed by the movement of mountains over the years.
