Destination sketch

Sêrxü County also known as Sershul, Dzachuka, Serxu, or Shiqu is a county of the Garzê Prefecture in Sichuan Province, China. It is situated at the northernmost tip of Sichuan province. Shiqu County is 950 kilometers away from Chengdu and 850 km from xining.
It is above 25,000 km² et and mainly covered by grasslands. Average level above sea is 4,200 m.
Sershul District villages include: Ariksar, Bumser, Changma, Dezhongma, Dzagyel, Geming, Gotsa, Junyung, Jowo, Kabshi, Kilung, Kyewu, Sershul Gompa, Serxu Dzong, Shaksa, Tromsa Genma, Tseboum Soumdo, Tsemkhog, Ombo and Wathul.
Sershul District has several monasteries, including : Ju Mohar, Sershul Gompa, Bumser, Ariksar, Dzagyel, Changma, Trikar, Kabshi and Jowo.

Local life

It has an area of over 25,000 square kilometers and is predominantly covered by grasslands used for nomadic herding. The population is around 68,000, 96% of whom are ethnic Tibetan.

Beliefs and taboos

Almost all the people living in this area believe in the Indian Mahayana form of Buddhism but have gradually developed a distinctive Tibetan Buddhism which is also called Lamaism.
Bage mani stone wall and Songge Mani Stone Mound are two holy places here.

Zhenda Guozhuang Dance

Serxu Tibetans can sing and dance, and there are many kinds of ethnic songs and dances. The most influential, longest-historic, and most popular among farmers is the Zhenda Guozhuang Dance.

The best way for travelers to go to Serxu is to fly to Yushu first and then charter or transfer by long distances bus in Yushu City.

Serxu Bus Station
The shuttle bus to Ganzi Station is about RMB 150, and Manigango is about RMB 100. There is no fixed number of trains at the station. Most CMBs are mixed with private vehicles. If they are lucky, they can catch a shuttle bus from Yushu to Chengdu, and from Serxu to Yushu, they will be about 60 yuan. The journey will take about 4 hours.

Zhaxika Grassland

Zhaxi Cardinal Grassland is the largest grassland in Sichuan. It is rich in water resources. Lishan rock group

Bage Mani stone wall

The wall of Bagmani is more than 50 kilometers away from Serxu County. The wall is 2 to 3 meters thick and the highest point is about 3 meters. It has a total length of 1.6 kilometers. It is the longest Mani Wall in the Tibetan area.

Songge Mani Stone Mound

located at Arizha township of Serxu county in Ganzi Tibetan autonomous prefecture of southwest China’s Sichuan province. Pugongba pasture

Luoxu white lipped deer Nature Reserve

Tsampa

It is a Tibetan and Himalayan Nepalese staple foodstuff, particularly prominent in the central part of the region. It is roasted flour, usually barley flour and sometimes also wheat flour. It is usually mixed with the salty Tibetan butter tea.

Traditionally, it is made from tea leaves, yak butter, water, and salt, although butter made from cow’s milk is increasingly used, given its wider availability and lower cost.

Accommodation

In the towns above 4,000 meters above sea level, there are basically no tap water supplies. Checking in Serxu county, drinking water and washing water are sent by the waiters carrying the thermos.
