Wuyuan is a city in Jiangxi Province. It is the central transportation hub to the many beautiful villages in the region.
The Nuo dance, which once was used to exorcise evil, is now entertainment.
China’s Nuo dance, which originated in primeval times as a means of exorcising the plague and demons and worshiping gods, is the oldest dance form known in the country. The Nuo dance used to be performed in most parts of China, by Han people as well as by some ethnic minority groups in Southeast China.
Emerging in feudal times, when ancient Chinese were transforming from barbarism to civilization, the Nuo dance served as a talisman against the perceived evils of life. During this period, natural disasters and diseases, especially plagues, often wiped out huge segments of the population and livestock.
Most of local people can not speak English.

Although probably not worth visiting on its own, if you are touring the eastern villages do spend an hour wandering around the old part of Jiangwan (away from the main road). The people are warm and friendly. Sit a while and chat to some of The old women sat out on steps and stools in the alleyways who always seem to be smiling.
A strange claustrophobic duet of villages with tall gray walls and narrow maze-like streets and tumble-down buildings. With the tourist entrance set further away from the town, these villages manage to preserve their living identities better, and, especially towards the end of The day, it really does seem that time stopped in these villages many years ago. There is also an ancient bridge in Sixi that although not as old as Qinghua, is far more pleasant and really renders a visit to Qinghua where the bridge is pretty much Its only redeeming feature, a bit pointless.
Built in 1137 during the Southern Song Dynasty (1127-1279), Rainbow Bridge stretches over a river near the old street of Qinghua Town, which is 14 miles (22 km) north of Wuyuan County. Having stood for more than 800 years, this Bridge is the longest covered bridge in the area of ancient Huizhou (Anhui and Jiangxi Provinces, nowadays). As one of the most beautiful covered bridges in China, it features beautiful natural scenery and abundant cultural relics. There are many engineering features on the bridge That embody the wisdom of the ancient Chinese. Today, Rainbow Bridge is the best known scenic spot in Wuyuan.
More nice if underwhelming bridge, inside a small hamlet. More beautiful are the larger bridges nearby – from the Rainbow Bridge entrance, walk alongside the river, turn right when you have to, past the row of shops and dentists, and make a left at The first intersection. After a few minute’s walk, at the bend in the road, is an amazing look over a valley, it is easy to go down and explore. This is also the place to get a bus back to Wuyuan.
here are Buddhist temples, active farms, traditional homes, and teahouses — but also a lot of cars, motorbikes, and the high speed railway going above (but not stopping in) the village. There can be many guided tour groups, so it is best visited on weekdays or off-season. A new edition seems to be a long gauntlet of tourist stalls that you have to walk through from the entrance, to the village itself. Having no hair does not seem to be a disincentive for the sellers to try and sell you the ubiquitous sandalwood combs. That aside once in the village, it earns its reputation as one of the nicest villages in Wuyuan. There are also a couple of decent places to eat with some great views down the little canals.
It’s worth noting that the people living in this village now survive primarily on the tourist industry. They have no qualms about making money off you, or trying to make more money from other tourists, rather than you. For example, one traveler reports that when he and his Chinese girlfriend were there, their dinner table was given away to a larger group of tourists. This is still a nice canal town, but it is heavily touristy, and prone to many of the same problems of bigger tourist destinations.
Lingyan Cave Forest Park, about 7,413 acres (30 square kilometers), is located at the north tour line of Wuyuan County, Jiangxi Province. This park features beautiful natural scenery with the most distinctive feature – karst caves. It contains three scenic areas: Lingyan Cave Group Area, Shicheng Village Rare and Ancient Trees Area and Eco-Tea Garden Area. Nowadays, it is gradually gaining popularity among the locals and tourists and achieved the national 4A level scenic spot in 2008. The favorable eco-environment and the special type of landform contribute to the popularity of Lingyan Cave Forest Park.
Wolong Valley of Dazhang Mountain, also known as Wolong Canyon, located at the eastward ranges of Yellow Mountain – Dazhang Mountain, Wuyuan, Jiangxi Province, is about 26 miles (43 kilometers) away from the center of Wuyuan County. Embraced by rolling mountains from all sides, this valley is just like an emerald inlaid in the verdant valley. Its advantageous location and the perennial vegetation coverage of 90.7% endow it with a beautiful and unique gorge landscape. Wolong Valley is also praised as the most magical and mysterious valley in the area of Yangtze River delta. Nowadays, it is gaining popularity among local people and tourists all over the world, and becomes one of the most worthy scenic spot located at the north tour line of Wuyuan.
This is another duet of villages and on the whole very worthy of a visit. Lower Xiaoqi is tacky and pretty much a guided path around tourist shops, but head out the other side and cross the rice paddies to Upper Xiaoqi for a more secluded, and peaceful place to loose yourself in the buildings. The houses may be similar in both upper and lower Xiaoqi, but its so much easier to appreciate them in Upper Xiaoqi. Food is available here at the tea house on the right as you first wander into upper Xiaoqi.
A picturesque hilltop village. The village can be accessed either by cable car or sightseeing car or by walking up the hill.

Dear team, I am not Chinese and cannot speak Chinese. I plan to arrive Wuyuan around noon on 16 Nov 2019 by bullet train and leave the next day to Huangshan (Tunxi) by bullet train around 4-5 PM. From the article, it recommend to book charter which cost 200 RMB per day (from some travel china guide). Is that mean I can ask driver to go anywhere? For example, I would like to go to North Line and stay at Shichengcheng Village. And next day, I plan to go to East Line and back to Wuyuan Railway Station around 3 PM.
Second question, I cannot seems to find the site that allow me to look at hotel in Shichengcheng Village. Any recommend site or place to stay? Thanks.
