Chinese Name: 哈巴雪山

Haba xueshan(haba snow mountain), which located in Zhongdian county of Yunnan province, has a main peak of 5396m, and the summit is covered by snow all year long. Surrounded by four small peaks, the majestic main peak stands proudly and aloofly. From afar, it looks just like a silver-flicking crown. At altitudes of about 4700m, you can see icefall hanging over the cliff, unique and stunning. It is one of the southernmost oceanic temperate glaciers in our country.

Above 4000 metres of Haba xueshan(haba snow mountain) is rugged flowstone and ancient glacier, the lowest point is the Jiangbian incorporated village, which only 1550m above sea level. Haba xueshan(haba snow mountain) has altitude difference of 3846 meter, and total area of 21908 hectare. the landscape shows a ladder-like distribution, subtropical zone, temperate zone, cold temperate zone and frigid zone, which almost an epitome of the whole Northwestern Yunnan climate.

The climbing season of Haba xueshan(haba snow mountain) is from March to November. Influenced by the monsoon, there has a strong wind in January and February，and the scale often can be 8 degree or even stronger. Rare climbing enthusiasts will miss this place, and it is especially suitable for junior climber, yet it not means we can underestimate the climbing difficulty. Safety should always be kept in mind. We will lay fixed lines as assistance at Dangerous sections above the snowline.

The climbing season of Haba xueshan(haba snow mountain) is March to November. Influenced by the monsoon, there has a strong wind in January and February，and the scale often can be 8 degree or even stronger.

Route into the mountain：

Haba village—BC

Setting out at 8 o’clock, hiking into the mountain lightly, and the equipment will be carried by caravans in the whole journey, then have food and take a rest at noon, the time we arrive at BC will be about 3pm. Stay BC for the night, tents and cabins are available for choice.(BC is 4100m above sea level).

Scheduling:

D1: team members from different places—- Lijiang

Team members set out for Lijiang by themselves, after a rest in hotel, we will have a meeting in the afternoon to get familiar with each other, checking equipment and make details clear, etc. Better to sleep early(clubbing is deprecated) and supper will be self-catering.

D2: Lijiang —Haba village

The journey will start at 8 o’clock in the morning, and you will enjoy the scenery of Lashihai, the first Bay of Yangzi River, and Hutiaoxia along the way. We will arrive at Haba village before afternoon, and after a rest in the hotel, there will be an altitudinal adaptation training and general climbing knowledge instruction.

D3: Haba village—BC

Setting out at 8 o’clock, hiking into the mountain lightly, and the equipment will be carried by caravans in the whole journey, then have food and take a rest at noon, reach BC will cost about 7 hours, (4100m above sea level). After a rest is the training for basic climbing skill. Stay BC for the night, tents (each tent will be shared by two, bring your own tent is no need) and cabins (with sleeping bunk) are available for choice.

D4: BC—the summit—-BC

Start in the morning, reach the summit in 8 hours is expected (5396m above sea level), the latest arriving time is 2.pm, and then back to BC for rest.

D5: BC—Haba village—-Lijiang

After breakfast and photo-taking of the morning scenery, hiking lightly to Haba village, and back to Lijiang by bus along the same way we come. Then have a celebration, and enjoy the night of Lijiang Ancient Town.
