Steam Locomotive in Sandaoling, Baiyin and Diaobingshan

Day 1: Hami Arrival

Activities: Arrive in Hami, and then transfer to Sandaoling (about 90 minutes drive).
Photography: Shoot the hard working JS-class steam locomotives.
Overnight: Sandaoling

Day 2 – Day 6: Sandaoling

Activities: Visit Sandaoling. Depending on the operational mode of the mine, shoot loaded steam train. Focus on the heavily graded line out of the coal pit to the washery and the shunting yard. Visit the repair shops.
Photography: Shoot loaded steam train, all parts of the pit, the various loading, unloading areas and repair shops.
Overnight: Sandaoling

Day 7: Sandaoling – Hami – Lanzhou

Activities: Turn back to Hami in the morning, and then catch highspeed train to Lanzhou. Next, visit the sole SY still in service at the Baiyin copper ore mining railway.
Photography: Shoot the sole SY still in service at the Baiyin copper ore mining railway.
Overnight: Lanzhou

Day 9: Lanzhou/Baiyin

Activities: visit SY. A single SY is still kept operational to act as a heating-device for the train. It is attached to the rear of the train while the diesel locomotive provides the traction.
Photography: shoot the SY at the small shed and on the line that passes some magnificent loess-mountains with steep grades.
Overnight: Lanzhou/Baiyin

Day 10: Lanzhou/Baiyin – Shenyang

Activities: Chase the regular workers´ train up to Shenbutong, hopefully follow the on-time freight train, and then head back to Lanzhou to catch our flight to Shenyang
Photography: Free shoot on the train along the way from Shenbutong to Lanzhou.
Overnight: Shenyang

Day 11- Day 13: Shenyang/Tiefa(Diaobingshan)

Activities: Go to Tiefa to shoot the mining railway, get the permission to run a series of photo charters exclusively for visitors, having SY 1770 and 1772 (the last ever built SY for the Chinese market in 1997 and 1999) hauling green-coaches-passenger-trains.
Photography: Focus on the classic mining architecture and the famous sun-rise and sun-set-shots.
Overnight: Tiefa(Diaobingshan)

Day 14: to Beijing

Activities: Book a SY-photo-charter in the morning, and then go to Tieling West Railway Station. Take a high speed train to Beijing, and reach in the evening.
Photography: Shoot SY in the morning and free shoot along the way.
Overnight: Beijing
